Couple suffers life-threatening injuries in Ohio accident

On Behalf of | Aug 26, 2014 | Car Accidents

Around 10 p.m. on Aug. 23 in Columbus, a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman suffered critical injuries in a car and motorcycle accident. The pair was riding the motorcycle, and responders transported both to Grant Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The report did not detail further information regarding specific injuries.

The motor vehicle accident reportedly occurred at an intersection when a sedan rear-ended the motorcycle. The 19-year-old sedan driver did not report any injuries. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately file any charges because they were still investigating the accident at the time of the report. One day after the incident, authorities had not ruled out drugs or alcohol as possible contributing factors.

When accidents like this one occur and people suffer life-altering injuries, the damages may be extensive. Those injured may never completely recover. For example, a brain injury could incapacitate a person for the remainder of their life, and he or she may require financial compensation to cover expenses like home health care and medical bills. A person suffering less debilitating injuries, such as broken bones, could endure lost wages and other financial difficulties.

A personal injury attorney might assist those who suffered injuries in a motor vehicle accident by obtaining police reports and negotiating insurance settlements in order to recover compensation for accident-related damages. Civil lawsuits may be another option when individuals are involved in an injury accident, and an attorney could represent them if a case goes through court litigation.
