1 dead, 3 injured in 3-vehicle accident

An Ohio teacher died in a multi-vehicle crash that happened south of Waco. The incident, which involved three vehicles, happened at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 9.

According to Ohio Highway Patrol, the 57-year-old music teacher was driving northbound on Route 43 when a Chevy S-10 pickup, driven by a 20-year-old man from Carrollton, strayed into oncoming traffic from the southbound lanes. The truck entered the path of the woman's Mazda, and the two cars collided head-on. A Pontiac G6 that was also driving north ran into the back of the Mazda after the latter car was struck by the pickup.

The teacher was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Firefighters from the Canton Township Fire Department had to extricate the driver of the truck from the vehicle, and he was taken to Aultman Hospital. From Aultman, he was airlifted to Akron City Hospital, and his condition was reported to be serious on August 9. The two people in the Pontiac, a 24-year-old Malvern woman and 23-year-old Avon Lake woman, both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Aultman Hospital as well.

People who have been injured in accidents may choose to consult with attorneys about seeking compensation from other parties to those accidents. If retained in order to pursue a personal injury lawsuit, an attorney would be responsible for demonstrating to the case's jury that the defendant's negligent actions led to the accident in question. In addition to medical expenses, lost wages and the cost of replacing damaged property, Ohio recognizes that the pain and suffering that can stem from accident injuries are worthy of financial redress.
