An accident in northeastern Ohio injured multiple people on Oct. 12. The crash occurred in Carroll Township on Ohio 2 near milepost 11. A 21-year-old Mount Clemens man traveling west reportedly caused the incident when he attempted a left turn. The Ohio Highway Patrol reported that the driver failed to yield when he decided to turn left into a restaurant parking lot, and a 52-year-old driver from Kettering was unable to stop his car in time to avoid a crash.

The 52-year-old man and three of his passengers, also from Kettering, were taken to St. Vincent Medical Center by helicopter. The Mount Clemens man’s passengers were taken by ambulance to Magruder Hospital. As of Oct. 13, the medical conditions of those who were injured during the incident was not available to the public.

The Kettering man’s vehicle sustained front-end damage, a crack in the front hood and a cracked windshield. The Mount Clemens man’s vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end.

If a driver acts carelessly on the road and causes injury to others, he or she could be liable for a victim’s losses after an accident. A personal injury claim allows one to seek compensation for expenses resulting from a wreck, including expenses that are paid out for medical treatment or property damage. While a case could be settled out of court, a majority of the evidence must support the claim that a driver’s actions substantially contributed to a collision for a plaintiff to be awarded damages in a case that goes to trial. A person who has sustained injuries from an accident may choose to seek the counsel of a personal injury lawyer if he or she decides to pursue compensation.
