Nuclear laboratory problems shine light on safety concerns

Observers in Ohio and around the country have expressed serious concern about the safety of the nation's nuclear facilities. Reports of safety violations and lapses at one of the country's leading nuclear research laboratories have sparked sharp criticism, emphasizing the importance of safety for the lab's workers and the surrounding environment.

Ankle injuries are common in slip-and-fall accidents

Many Ohio residents are involved in slip-and-fall accidents each year, and some of them suffer debilitating ankle injuries as a result. Ankle injuries range from mild strains to serious sprains and fractures, and recovering from them is often a slow and painful process. Torn ligaments or tendons in ankle joints can be particularly slow to heal.

Liability risks posed by amusement parks

Memorial Day through Labor Day is the peak season for carnivals and other events featuring amusement park rides. While Ohio residents see fun and excitement when they arrive at a park or festival, ride manufacturers are more worried about possible liability if someone gets hurt. Determining fault when an accident does occur can be complicated since a number of factors could contribute.

Symptoms associated with traumatic brain injury

If you or a loved one have ever suffered a traumatic brain injury, it may have arisen from a fall, a car accident, a sports-related injury or any other incident that caused a serious blow to the head. TBIs vary broadly in terms of severity, and the effects and symptoms associated with them may prove relatively mild in nature, or they can be completely life-changing.

Child fatalities due to motor vehicle accidents

Children under the age of 15 years who live in the South have a higher chance of being killed in a motor vehicle accident than in any other region in the United States. Ohio parents might want to know that their region is safer than the South, but it still lags behind other parts of the country.

Sleep apnea testing aims to cut down on truck crashes

Ohio truckers may have to undergo more testing or deal with regulations regarding sleep apnea following an April U.S. Supreme Court decision. In the case, a driver appealed a decision by a lower court that ruled that his employer had a right to require him to be tested for sleep apnea. The company, Crete Carrier Corp., required that workers with a body mass index of 35 or higher be tested. The man refused to take the test, so he was fired.
